City of Reminderville Safety Town
Safety Town is a nationally recognized program for children who will be entering Kindergarten in the fall. Reminderville's Safety Town is sponsored by the Reminderville Police Department, and is held for one week during the summer. Lessons are given on pedestrian and car safety, playground safety, drug and poison safety, bike safety, and stranger danger.
The children visit the Reminderville Fire Department to meet the fire fighters and learn about fire safety. At the Police Department the children meet a police dispatcher for a lesson on how to become a 911 Hero. They learn about gun safety from a police officer, and have their fingerprints taken to put in their own personal identification records. The class also had a visit from a Twinsburg City Schools bus driver for a lesson on bus safety and a ride to Wilcox Elementary School. The week ends with a graduation party for the whole family.
